Ways to get involved
Participate in the Child Dental Access Program: The Child Dental Access Program (CDAP) provides low-income children in Champaign County, outside of Champaign-Urbana, with dental care. Dentists participate by deciding how many patients they want to accept. Dentists participating in CDAP will provide dental services at a 50% discount and are reimbursed through SmileHealthy. All screenings, scheduling assistance, reminder call and even hygiene support is provided by SmileHealty.
Volunteer to Work at a Community Dental Clinic: SmileHealthy operates a free dental clinic for families enrolled in Head Start at the Rantoul school. SmileHealthy needs to expand to meet demand and is looking for dentists, hygienists and assistants to volunteer for a regular shift (monthly or semi-monthly) to provide care. Similar opportunities may be available with other groups.
Volunteer at Special Events: Throughout the year there are many ways to make an impact by volunteering for one day outside of your practice. Opportunities include a day of providing exams at as a part of school clinics, restorative care days and Give Kids A Smile.
Make a Financial Contribution in Support of Increased Dental Access: Financial contributions made will be given to support our work to increase dental access to the community. This includes helping patients in the DRP and CDAP pay for the dental care that they otherwise cannot afford, as well as providing dental supplies for the volunteer dental programs.
